If you’re a proud hot tub owner or considering diving into the soothing waters of spa life, you’re in for a treat. Your hot tub isn’t just a luxurious addition to your home; it’s an investment in your well-being and a retreat for both body and soul.

As the warm, bubbling waters ease your muscles and melt away the stresses of the day, your hot tub becomes a sanctuary, a place to unwind. It transforms your deck into a haven of relaxation, extending the usability of your outdoor space even on cooler days.

However, with great relaxation comes great responsibility – the responsibility to protect and preserve your investment through regular hot tub maintenance. Much like maintaining a pool, the key lies in adhering to the four essential Cs of hot tub cleaning: Cleaning, Circulation, Chemistry, and Covers.

        Clean Those Filters!

If your hot tub filter is working properly, it should be running any time your hot tub is in use. You should regularly rinse your hot tub filter using warm water. In addition, your filter should also be sprayed with a hot tub filter cleaner at least once a week.

Be sure to rinse them before reinstalling. When your filter is past its prime, replace it with a new one. It’s better to do this sooner rather than later to keep your hot tub in tip-top shape. With standard use, a typical hot tub filter will last about a year.

        Manually Clean Your Hot Tub

Unfortunately, both indoor and outdoor tubs are prone to developing mildew. An outdoor hot tub also collects debris such as fallen leaves, sticks, bugs, etc. Consider regular removing of any debris and wiping down the tub with a sponge and vinegar-based cleaner, at least once a week.

Vinegar helps reduce the growth and build-up of mildew. When you need a little extra muscle in your cleaning routine, consider turning to a bleach-based cleanser to remove any visible scum.

        Circulate Your Hot Tub Water

Depending on the type of hot tub you have, it may have an auto circulation that runs a few times a day. Check your manual to see if you need to set the circulation schedule or if it’s preset.

A standard cycle would run for about 20 minutes to ensure that all the water in your hot tub has run through the filter.

        It’s All About the Chemistry

Regularly check up on your pH levels. For a healthy hot tub, you want to shoot for a pH between 7.4 and 7.6. Anything lower than this will make your hot tub too acidic. Water that is too acidic can cause a multitude of problems including irritation to your skin and eyes and the deterioration of the hardware in your hot tub.

When it comes to alkalinity, you want to aim for 125 ppm to 150 ppm. If it’s much higher than this, the water appears to be cloudy and discolored. You can do a quick and easy pH check with liquid test kits or hot tub chemical testing strips which are both inexpensive and user-friendly.

It is recommended to test the water weekly during periods of regular use.

        Cover It Up

In addition to your maintenance routine, you want to make sure to always keep a hot tub cover on your hot tub when it’s not in use. This will minimize the debris that can get in and anything else that may affect the chemistry of your hot tub. Remember, just like hot tubs, swimming pools also require covers. Consider investing in swimming pool covers to keep your pool in optimal condition.

Enhance Your Hot Tub Experience with Hot Tub Winter Covers

Enhance Your Hot Tub Experience with Hot Tub Winter Covers

For an elevated hot tub experience even in colder months, regular Hot tub maintenance service is crucial. Instead of shelling huge bucks on services, investing in a high-quality hot tub winter cover can save you a fortune.

Choosing the Right Hot Tub Covers

Hot tub winter covers are paramount in preserving the vitality and efficiency of your cherished spa during the colder months. Beyond shielding against winter’s chill, these covers aid in heat retention.

They ensure your hot tub remains an inviting oasis despite the plummeting temperatures. This enhances your comfort while significantly contributing to energy efficiency and minimizing operational costs.

Go for custom-sized hot tub covers for ultimate protection from weather elements. While extending the lifespan, the custom fit hot tub covers help maximize the enjoyment of your spa throughout the entire year.

Here’s what you should consider before buying a custom-sized hot tub cover:

        1. Opt for Waterproof and Dustproof Covers

Whether it’s a sudden rain shower, a gust of wind carrying debris, or the accumulation of dust and dirt over time, hot tub cover must act as a shield, keeping your hot tub’s interior clean and free from contaminants. So, be sure to select a hot tub cover that is both waterproof and dustproof.

        2. Choose Custom Tailored for a Perfect Fit

Not all hot tubs are the same size, which is why having custom sizing options is essential for a perfect fit. Measure your hot tub and then choose a supplier that can provide a hot tub based on its dimensions.

        3. Pick UV Resistant Fabrics

Hot tubs endure a range of weather conditions, including intense sunlight and freezing cold. To effectively address these challenges, it is advisable to select high-quality covers made from PVC-coated polyester fabric. Look for fabrics that offer UV resistance to ensure your cover remains durable and long-lasting.

        4. Look for Multiple Tie-Down Options

Security is paramount. So, keep an eye out for ways to secure it properly. Check if the cover has stuff like elastic bands, drawstrings, push clips, or Velcro straps to keep it in place. Some top providers with custom hot tub covers even let you pick the tie-down option that works best for you.

Bonus Tip: Add tennis balls to your hot tub after use. Hot water naturally extracts oils and dirt from your skin and clothes. The fuzzy tennis ball fibers will attract the oils and help keep your water clean!

In conclusion, easiest way to maintain a hot tub is to ensure it continues to provide relaxation and enjoyment for years to come.

By following the 4 C’s of hot tub maintenance: Cleaning, Circulation, Chemistry and Covers – you can keep your hot tub in excellent condition.
